I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God… 010613

“And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, ‘Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.’  And Abram said to the king of Sodom, ‘I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth, that I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, ‘I have made Abram rich:’ save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.'”  Genesis 14:21-24 (KJV)

“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”  Matthew 6:19-21 (KJV)

  1. Christadelphians says:

Many people do forget that when they die it shall be finished with them. They shall not be able to take anything with them in their death. They shall not be able to hear, sea or do anything. Their body shall integrate and nothing shall come out of it except dust. We all shall return to dust. Nothing shall leave our body, no ‘soul’ going to places taking things with it from this earth.
Only after Jesus return the dead shall be resurrected and with the living shall be called to come in front of the judge, who shall decide if they are worthy to enter the Kingdom of God.

We should prepare our selves now when we are on this earth. When we die it shall be too late to take care of being/becoming allowed into the Kingdom of God.

All material things will vanish or be of no value. The spiritual things shall matter. It is now and not then that we do have to prepare our soul (=our being/our existence) to be ready to be justified to enter Gods Kingdom.

Thanks for your comment and coming to our site. I pray you do not mean that there is nothing following death for the unbeliever. There is eternity in hell, separated from God and goodness. There is also a resurrection of the unjust wicked.
Remember Paul’s words, “Absent from the body; present with the Lord.”
      Thanks again.

  2. Christadelphians says:

We as Christians can look forward as you say to eternal death (the hell = no place of torment, but the grave) or to entering the Kingdom of God, which only shall happen when Jesus after Armageddon by his return approved us to do so. Without the approval of the Messiah we shall be nothing any more, that is the reason why we should take care to do our work now to be justified and clean enough to come before the judge Jesus.

    • Tim A. says:

There will be eternal judgment for all at the last judgment. The judgment for the believer, follower of Jesus is already set. Our sins have been paid for; we are bought with a price. We await with joy the return of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.
God created man to be eternal, thus our soul, spirit will live on. As I noted previously Paul’s statement (Read 2 Corinthians 5:6-8). There is also eternal punishment for those who refuse Christ Jesus; not annihilation (Matthew 18:8-10; Mark 9:43-48).
You are correct that once this life is ended; it is too late. Too late eternally.
      T.A.
