…A Flame of Fire out of the Midst of a Bush… 012113

Today’s Bible Reading –

Exodus 3 – 5 and Matthew 21

Selected verses…

Old Testament –

“Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.  And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.  And Moses said, ‘I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.’  And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, ‘Moses, Moses.’ And he said, ‘Here am I.’   And He said, ‘Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.’  Moreover He said, ‘I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’  And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.” Exodus 3:1-6 (KJV)

New Testament –

“And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, and said unto them, ‘It is written, ‘My house shall be called the house of prayer;’ but ye have made it a den of thieves.’  And the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple; and He healed them.  And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that He did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, ‘Hosanna to the Son of David;’ they were sore displeased, and said unto Him, ‘Hearest Thou what these say?’ And Jesus saith unto them, ‘Yea; have ye never read, ‘Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?’  And He left them, and went out of the city into Bethany; and He lodged there.”  Matthew 21:12-17 (KJV)
