Today’s Bible Reading –

Exodus 17 – 18 and Matthew 26

Selected verses –

Old Testament –

“And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, “What shall I do unto this people? They be almost ready to stone me.’ And the LORD said unto Moses, ‘Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand, and go. Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink.’ And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel. And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, ‘Is the LORD among us, or not?'” Exodus 17:4-7 (KJV)

New Testament –

“And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, He said unto His disciples, ‘Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of Man is betrayed to be crucified.’  Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, and consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill Him.  But they said, ‘Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar among the people.'” Matthew 26:1-5 (KJV)
