What hath God wrought! 022113

Today’s Bible Reading –

Selected verses…

Old Testament –

“And the LORD met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, ‘Go again unto Balak, and say thus.’  And when he came to him, behold, he stood by his burnt offering, and the princes of Moab with him. And Balak said unto him, ‘What hath the LORD spoken?’  And he took up his parable, and said, ‘Rise up, Balak, and hear; hearken unto me, thou son of Zippor: God is not a man, that He should lie; neither the son of man, that He should repent: hath He said, and shall He not do it? Or hath He spoken, and shall He not make it good?  Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and He hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.  He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath He seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God is with him, and the shout of a King is among them.  God brought them out of Egypt; He hath as it were the strength of an unicorn. Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, ‘What hath God wrought!  Behold, the people shall rise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion: he shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the slain.'”  Numbers 23:16-24 (KJV)

New Testament –

“Now when He had ended all His sayings in the audience of the people, He entered into Capernaum.  And a certain centurion’s servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die.  And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto Him the elders of the Jews, beseeching Him that He would come and heal his servant.  And when they came to Jesus, they besought Him instantly, saying, ‘That he was worthy for whom He should do this: for he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue.’  Then Jesus went with them. And when He was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying unto Him, ‘Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that Thou shouldest enter under my roof: wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto Thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.  For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, ‘Go, and he goeth; and to another, ‘Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, ‘Do this, and he doeth it.’  When Jesus heard these things, He marvelled at him, and turned Him about, and said unto the people that followed Him, ‘I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.’  And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.”  Luke 7:1-10 (KJV)
