Blessed be the LORD God of Israel… 040813

Today’s Bible Reading –

1 Samuel 25 – 26 and John 17

Selected verses…

Old Testament –

“And David said to Abigail, ‘Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which sent thee this day to meet me: and blessed be thy advice, and blessed be thou, which hast kept me this day from coming to shed blood, and from avenging myself with mine own hand.  For in very deed, as the LORD God of Israel liveth, which hath kept me back from hurting thee, except thou hadst hasted and come to meet me, surely there had not been left unto Nabal by the morning light any that pisseth against the wall.’  So David received of her hand that which she had brought him, and said unto her, ‘Go up in peace to thine house; see, I have hearkened to thy voice, and have accepted thy person.'”  1 Samuel 25:32-35 (KJV)

New Testament –

“These words spake Jesus, and lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said, ‘Father, the hour is come; glorify Thy Son, that Thy Son also may glorify Thee: as Thou hast given Him power over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as Thou hast given Him.  And this is life eternal, that they might know Thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom Thou hast sent.  I have glorified Thee on the earth: I have finished the work which Thou gavest Me to do.  And now, O Father, glorify Thou Me with Thine own self with the glory which I had with Thee before the world was.'”  John 17:1-5
