Hearken, my beloved brethren… 102813

Today’s Bible Reading –

Ezekiel 4 – 5;  James 2

Selected verses…

Old Testament –

“Thus saith the Lord GOD; ‘This is Jerusalem: I have set it in the midst of the nations and countries that are round about her. And she hath changed My judgments into wickedness more than the nations, and My statutes more than the countries that are round about her: for they have refused My judgments and My statutes, they have not walked in them.’ Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; ‘Because ye multiplied more than the nations that are round about you, and have not walked in My statutes, neither have kept My judgments, neither have done according to the judgments of the nations that are round about you;’ therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; ‘Behold, I, even I, am against thee, and will execute judgments in the midst of thee in the sight of the nations. And I will do in thee that which I have not done, and whereunto I will not do any more the like, because of all thine abominations.'” Ezekiel 5:5-9 (KJV)

New Testament –

“My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; and ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, ‘Sit thou here in a good place;’ and say to the poor, ‘Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:’  Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? Hearken, my beloved brethren, ‘Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which He hath promised to them that love Him?’  But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?”  James 2:1-7 (KJV)
