But He giveth more grace 103013

Today’s Bible Reading –

Ezekiel 8 – 9;  James 4

Selected verses…

Old Testament –

“He cried also in mine ears with a loud voice, saying, ‘Cause them that have charge over the city to draw near, even every man with his destroying weapon in his hand.’ And, behold, six men came from the way of the higher gate, which lieth toward the north, and every man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed with linen, with a writer’s inkhorn by his side: and they went in, and stood beside the brasen altar. And the glory of the God of Israel was gone up from the cherub, whereupon he was, to the threshold of the house. And He called to the man clothed with linen, which had the writer’s inkhorn by his side; and the LORD said unto him, ‘Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.'”  Ezekiel 9:1-4 (KJV)
New Testament –

“Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, ‘The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?’ But He giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, ‘God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.’ Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up.”  James 4:5-10 (KJV)
